Grades 9 - 12 ; 2 Periods a week for one full school year.)
The course is designed to provide students with a hands-on approach to Robotics. Each student will master basic electronics and basic input and output programing on an IBM computer. First, students will work on a project for the John Burroughs Community. Electronic or mechanical. Second, the students will learn to program inputs and outputs from a PC to manipulate the robot's movements.Third , they will produce a robot designed to compete in an in-class competition. Student work will be displayed at the annual Practical Arts Festival on campus. If time permits, students are encouraged to enter their designs in competition at the state level.
This course fulfills the 1/3 additional unit of the Arts requirement.
